"Minty" is a right-hand drive, semi-automatic gearbox, DS23 Pallas. It has had a full technical restoration covering all mechanical and hydraulic systems. The interior is replaced with correct coverings as is dashboard and instruments. To foster anxiety-free driving on any road, in all weathers, the paint was not renewed. It still looks great at a couple of paces away, especially with a polish! Decorating the car for your occasion is allowable if you wanted.
The DS23 Pallas features the famous ride quality that these cars are well known for. This was the primary reason for my purchase of this car in the first place. Combined with a unique semi-automatic hydraulic gear-change and sure footed roadholding, it is a ride to remember. It has a character of its own, especially off highway on secondary roads. The visibility out of the cabin is excellent. Rear seatbelts are hidden from view due to the lack of a legal requirement for them in 1973. Ask and they will be made available. Front seats do have normal retractable reel belts. The car was designed to carry 5 people, 3 on the backseat for a cozy trip..2 on the backseat is more realistic.
Self-drive hire is not generally available at this time. If asked for and agreed to, the driver will need to be briefed and undergo a practical lesson in driving the car to my satisfaction - there is no ABS, ESC, or any computer chips running this car at all and 'The Driver' needs to be fully cognisant in their task. If the intended driver has experience with classic, vintage or veteran cars, driving this car would not be a problem. The clutch is a normal manual clutch but is not operated by the driver - it is semi-automatic and actuated by hydraulic solenoids and vacuum pressure. You push the gear-lever to the position needed and the car sorts the rest out. The parking brake is also foot operated.
